I just wanted you both to know that I really enjoyed his show at Laughs. The headliner was OK but I really liked Sam's show the best. He is funny without being raunchy. Its really hard to have comedy like that because many people think that the words and subjects have to be vulgar in order to be funny and he is living proof that it doesn't have to be that way. He came across as a very respectful and upstanding man. We all need more people in this world that are like him. I have a son too and I know how important it is as a mother to know that you're doing a good job raising your kid(s). 06/02/2008 - Hudson GardensSam (Mr. Adams, sir): I just wanted to toss you an e-mail thanking you again for an excellent show closing your small town, big time tour in Little-town last Friday. Im the fellow from Nebraska who was able to escape! One thing you cant change is where youre from, but you can change where you are. And maybe a little bit, who you are.Theres a difference between very good comics and run-of-the-mill comics, in my humble opinion, and you fit into the former category. What I see when I listen to a comic who can make a difference (and you exist!), is a willingness to touch a larger issue, whether its race, or small-town attitudes, or booze, or (tangentially) the Klan, or whatever. You do that, rather gently, which has to be hard to do, and I applaud that . . . Oh, at this time of the year, Im actually Peach Brandy. We went to Wal-mart this weekend and I matched paint colors. Theres a really good Frazz in the Sunday paper about individuals matching coffee colors that was astonishingly timely, given your performance Friday night. It reminded me that we really cant categorize groups of people as black or brown or white, but as any single color as a group; well have to go to individual colors. Indeed, in December I wont be anywhere near Peach Brandy, but more like Trailer Park Beige myself!! So, taking your analogy one step further, there will be just about as many colors to deal with as there are people on the planet, so why is color an issue at all?
